Subject: Museum Thank You
President Reanon Sandlin:
I want to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to the South Central Region for funding a new television for the National Museum of Roller Skating. With your help, we can now afford a better interaction between the sport of roller skating and our visitors. This new flat screen television can now show slideshows and footage on a higher quality medium. While we are still diligently looking for the perfect screen for our museum gallery, we are very grateful for the support of the South Central Region. Once installation is complete, I will send a picture via email to you of the completed project. Also, a glowing account of this donation will be featured in our bi-monthly newsletter.
Thanks again for all of your support!

Dear Regional Representatives,
Please feel free to forward this information on to your regional membership and coaches as FYI.
- During the 2011 national championships, the ends of the loop circles will be "closed" with tape for the Circle Loop division events. If you wish, you may try this during your regional championships if your venue’s loop circles are not already "closed" at the ends.
- RSA Achievement loop tests will not be required for the skaters who are participating in the "B" and "C" Circle Loop division events for the 2011 USARS competitive skating season.
- During the 2011 national championships, the Circle Loop skaters will not have their choice of loop circles during these division events.
- During the 2011 national championships, the "A" Division Loop and CIPA division figure skaters will remain to have their choice of loop circles.
- For Loop Division information, please review 2011 Figure Rules AR8.02.12 (b) Challenge Up Rules; AR8.02.13 Challenge Up Limitations; AR8.02.14 Combined Events and AR8.02.200, 201, 202 for Loop Figure Divisions. The 2011 Figure Rule Book may be viewed on USARS website at http://usars.info/rules/figure/2011%20Figure%20Rule%20Book%20010711.pdf
Combined domestic figure and loop division events:
- Skaters who participate in their division figure, loop and pay the fee for the combined event, will be tabulated by virtue of the initial round of competition into the combined outcome of the division.
- Skaters may participate in a "C" Figure event, the age equivalent "C" Loop event and Combined event of the "C" division, and challenge up to the "B" Figure event, the age equivalent "B" Loop event and the Combined event of the "B" division in the same qualifying championships.
- Skaters may participate in a "B" Figure event, the age equivalent "B" Loop event and Combined event of the "B" division, and challenge up to the Primary or "A" Figure event, the age equivalent Primary or "A" Loop event and the Combined event of the Primary or "A" division in the same qualifying championships.
- Skaters who place within the Sliding Scale Rule (AR8.02.10) in the combined event, are qualified for both division events (figures & loops; International Youth Solo & International Solo Free Dance) even if they did not qualify for the national championships in both of the individual division events.
- Domestic Combined Figure event tabulation as explained below by national championship tabulator and computer guru, Robert Styma:
For the domestic figure division initial round of competition in the "combined events", which are a combination of long figure events and loop events: These events are marked as such by a check box in the tabulating program. When these events are scored, each figure and each loop is ordinaled separately. For "A" events with 3 figures + 3 loops times three judges, this is 18 ordinals. The best 10 are used to calculate the MO and TMO For "B" and "C" events with 2 figures + 2 loops times three judges, this is 12 ordinals. The best 7 are used to calculate the MO and TMO This is the only difference and is using the mechanism normally found in rules 5 and 6. If there are ties after looking at the MO and TMO, rules 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on are processed normally. Yes, rule 4 does go back to using the sums. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Jane Wojnarowsky
